Representing Spain in Milan
Innovation and tradition come together to give rise to this incredible project made with wood and polycarbonate.
We are pleased to inform you of our participation in the design and supply of materials in the Spanish Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015.
Created by the b720 studio, led by Fermín Vàzquez, the project is inspired by a greenhouse, formed by a double-nave structure that represents the fusion of the qualities that our country exports: tradition and innovation. With the aim of creating a sustainable and environmentally efficient pavilion, recycled and natural materials have been used.
The pavilion is made up of a series of laminated wood porticoes every 1,50 m, supported by a sequence of irregular prismatic volumes made of cross-laminated wood.
Between the porticoes, transparent polycarbonate panels and plates are located, like canopies. To promote natural ventilation, a set of roof louvers are used that evacuate heat from above by convection, a mechanism similar to that of greenhouses. The depth and the distance between porches have been calculated to provide shade for semi-outdoor areas, achieving a significant reduction in energy consumption.
For this project Polimer Tecnic has supplied:
– Vitroflex PC compact polycarbonate sheets 12 meters long 10mm colorless with UV protection.
– Multiclear Light Solar Control SG 30mm cellular polycarbonate plates with high efficiency reduction of infrared radiation so as not to generate a greenhouse effect inside
– Panels and profiles Rodeca LBE PC 2540-7 System
– Panels and profiles Rodeca System U- Panel PC 2600-40-7-U Opal
