Polycarbonate sheets
POLYCARBONATE IN SHEETS
Polycarbonate is a group of thermoplastics whose properties include the ease of working, molding and thermoforming it in the factory. It is practically unbreakable and can be cold bent in various thicknesses, but it is less transparent. There are also specific qualities for outdoor use, vandal-proof, anti-abrasion, anti-reflective and suitable for food use among others. In addition to multiple colors and textures: polished, engraved, glossy, matte, etc.Polycarbonate sheets are commonly used in the manufacture of: skylights, wall cladding, facades, roofs, greenhouses, partitions, promotional or advertising signage, exterior or interior lighting, nautical, industry, signage, machinery protection, vandal-proof security glazing , lamination with glass, shields, police shields, protective visors and industrial parts.TYPES OF POLYCARBONATE

POLYCARBONATE SHEETS
Compact polycarbonate is one of the best technical plastics due to its ease of transformation and its excellent physical and mechanical properties.
It is the quintessential material for many heavy duty applications.
It offers a unique combination of properties: robust, light, durable, highly transparent, heat resistant and easy to transform.
APPLICATION AREAS
Initially it was used for electrical and electronic applications, for example in junction or fuse boxes, boards and plug connectors, and later for translucent covers of greenhouses and public buildings.
In 1982, the first audio CD was released that would quickly replace vinyl records. Ten years later CD-ROMs appeared, and in 15 years the first DVDs. In all these optical data storage systems, both polycarbonate and methacrylate are used.
Polycarbonate bottles have been produced since the mid-80s to replace the heavy and fragile glass ones. Currently, practically all cars produced in Europe and the USA have anti-abrasion polycarbonate headlights. It is also used in the manufacture of essential medical devices, electronic equipment, computer cases, automobile parts, building elements, consumer goods, security material or building covers.
The demand for compact polycarbonate in Europe represents around 400.000 tonnes per year, that is, a third of the world demand. The polycarbonate market is growing with the creation of new applications and a significant increase in demand from current sectors.
ADVANTAGES OF COMPACT POLYCARBONATE
Compared to glass, compact polycarbonate has the following advantages:
- It is up to 200 times more resistant to impact
- Lighter
- With greater heat insulation capacity.
At POLIMER TECNIC we manufacture and distribute compact polycarbonate both in sheets or plates, tubes or bars and in profiles of different shapes and sizes at the customer's request. It is also a material that allows it to be colored and given different textures.
